Previous experience is required* Unlock the beauty of Australian burls and transform them into stunning, one-of-a-kind pieces of art in this hands-on woodworking class. In this class, you’ll learn the process of casting Australian burls in resin, preserving their intricate grain patterns and unique features. Once your castings are set, you'll move on to the exciting step of turning them into elegant, small vases using a lathe. By the end of the class, you’ll have a finished piece you can be proud of, and the confidence to continue exploring the world of resin casting and wood turning. Join us for a creative and rewarding woodworking experience! This class will be broken up into two sessions. Woodworking Fundamentals I - Cutting Board

Saturday, August 29, 2026, 9 AM - 5 PM

This class is designed for beginners who want to learn how to safely use the core tools of the wood shop. During the first half of the class, we will focus on how to properly flatten and size lumber using the table saw, jointer, and planer. Once the material is flat and square, we will discuss glue up methods as we join the material to create a cutting board. The second half of the class will focus on safely using the router and router table to shape the board and apply a decorative edge. Students will leave with a completed project and a great foundation for starting their woodworking journey!

Beginning Pen/Pencil Turning

Saturday, September 5, 2026, 12 PM - 5 AM

This is a great introduction to turning wood on a lathe, with the end product being a pen or pencil to keep that you made yourself from start to finish. We cover the basics of safety, the parts of a lathe, lathe tools, and accessories, as well as everything you need to start making pens, magic wands, hairsticks, Christmas ornaments, and other turned creations! During the five-hour class, students in the class will learn how to select and cut wood pen blanks, drill and mount the blanks on the lathe, turn the pen barrels, apply finish, and assemble a pen. And the skills learned in this class will easily transfer to other turning classes or projects.
