Sharpening Handplanes And Chisels with Ed Looney

Class Size: 5
Description: In this class students will be shown the differences between wet and dry sharpening, along with the different types of whetstones that are available. Diamond Stones, Waterstones, Oil Stones, and Ceramic Stones will be discussed. We will also cover the use of various jigs you can use to sharpen your tools and contrast that with free hand sharpening. Each student may bring up to 2 items to sharpen. Items to be sharpened may be chisels, plane blades or other straight edge tools. PLEASE NOTE: Lathe tools are covered in a different class.

He’ll cover everything that you need to know while he demonstrates how to make a variety of different bandsaw box styles. You’ll see how to design and create unique wooden boxes using just a bandsaw. Alex will cover several types of boxes and demonstrate techniques such as curves, unusual shapes and how to setup your bandsaw for success! Make a 3D Stair Step Cutting Board with Alex Snodgrass

Description: This is a great opportunity to create your own stunning 3D Stair Step Cutting Board with the master himself, Alex Snodgrass. Using only three different woods – maple, cherry, and walnut – Alex will show each student how to make a 3D Stair Step Cutting Board that will really impress your family and friends. During the class, Alex will answer all of your questions about bandsaws, while covering basic topics such as bandsaw mechanics, tuning a bandsaw, and making perfect straight or angled cuts. Alex will also cover topics including glue-up techniques, how to plane and will debunk some common bandsaw myths.
