Simply Shaker: Dovetailed Wall Cabinet

Our Simply Shaker Series gives students a chance to make beautiful pieces of furniture that follow tenets of the Shaker style: simplicity, utility, and craftsmanship. In this session, students will build a small wall cabinet that features two types of dovetail joinery, adjustable shelves, and a small drawer. Some of the tools used during the class include the jointer, planer, table saw, handheld router, dovetail jig, and router table. OPTIONAL UPGRADE: The tuition covers the cost of Cherry lumber, but students can pay an additional $50 to make their cabinets out of Walnut.

Pen Turning 101

Thursday, June 4, 2026, 6 PM - 9 PM

In the first part of our pen-turning series, students will learn the basic parts and terminology of the lathe after a discussion of safety. They will be shown how to prepare a pen blank (small piece of wood) for turning. Next, they will turn a pen under the watchful eyes of our instructors. After applying a finish, each student will leave with a completed pen that he/she can show to friends and family. CAUTION: Pen Turning can be VERY addictive!

Finishing V: Waterborne Sealers and Finishes

Check out our new series of classes where we guide students through the entire finishing process! In this session, students will focus on using waterborne sealers and finishes, specifically the Enduro Sanding Sealer and High Performance topcoat from General Finishes. Other waterborne products will also be discussed and students will get hands-on practice applying at least one coat of a sealer and topcoat.
