BAD example of a live center by woodriv
the inserts fit loose in the arbor so they wobble in your work. Not much good for wood turning. Who ever designed these has not used them on a lathe.Woodriver is not showing me qaulity products. This is just above junk.

I would not buy this or recommend it
I purchased this product about a year ago and am not satisfied with it's construction and quality. The individual pieces fit loosely in the live center and vibrate when used. The single magnet seems to make the inserts off center. I recently purchased a Nova live center set for the same price and it is of very good quality.

Perfect for spindle turnings!
This set is perfect for turning fine highly detailed {hand spinning} Russian Spindles! Holds my work securely & doesn't mar the wood surfaces or steel point spindle tip insertions. The magnetic tips switch out in seconds & you're right back to turning again! One tiny complaint, is that some of the pointed tips are difficult to get OUT of the case - but I keep a magnetic tool pickup handy for just such things as that!

Awesome set of tools
I don't know how I got along with out this set of tail stocks.
-
ok for light use, but...
I used the set several times, noting that the single magnet that holds the accessories into the live center probably should have two mates at 120 degrees to each other. The machining tolerances allow the accessory tips too much play in the mounting hole, but for general, non-critical turning, it's ok.

Best of the Bunch
A fair number live center sets are on the market. Based on utility and price WR Pro Live Center Set is the optimum set for the hobby turner.

Spindle Woodturners Necessity
Great tool for all woodturners

Peddler Larry??!?! What the?
Sorry, Peddler, but a live center means it rotates with the stock, rather than being stationary. Live centers are ALWAYS on the tailstock. By definition, the headstock houses the motor and therfore requires a DRIVE center to turn the work. Good lord. Where in the heck did you learn how to turn? Ugh.
-
oops!! I still liked it
This is actually a tailstock set, NOT LIVE which has to with the headstock, Too many people think Live means it has bearings and spins. Live means it is a part of the headstock, this is not. Nice tool anyway, I will get a lot of use from it.

Works OK, but not quite what I expected.
Changing Tips a bit sticky. Some Corrosion on the parts when received.

Great Multipurpose Center
The center is great and versatile - it could use a second magnet to hold each tip flatter in the bearing housing. This doesn't effect performance, just initial alignment. Other than that, it is a great product.

versitle center set for woodworking
As sold, it is good for woodworking only. It also could use a bigger cup tip for woodworking. A shortcoming is that the hole in the base unit, that accepts the interchangable tips, averages 0.0015 to 0.002 inches larger than the part of the interchangable tip that goes in it. This is not good enough for most precision metalworking. I made my own interchangable tips for metalworking and it now can do both kinds of work very nicely. I would buy it again as sets designed for metalworking cost much, much, more monry.

Replacement for older tools
Seems to have a full set of centers to fill most any need.
-
great asset for any turner
it's easy to change centers for each project.
