      An Excellent Turning Tool

The Wood River Fingernail Bowl Gouges are the most economical lathe tools of this type on the market. For the avid DIYer who turns as a hobby, WR tools are the right quality and the right price. Most hobbyist can't spend a $100.00+ on a single tool. Some "purist" turners will say that this isn't one of the Sheffield, England made chisels. For my purposes,WR are great chisels.

      disappointing

I was somewhat disappointed with this line of tools - I bought the 1/4 inch bowl gouge looking to save some cash. The handle doesnt give adequate feedback and is too light, and the profile of the cutter is too narrow for it's size. For a bowl gouge of this size, the tool is too large. It seems unbalanced. Would have been better off with the full price gouge from Sorby or other high end manufacturer - they didn't get to be that for nothing.
