• Adjustable stand and articulated head
• Steel pedestal adjusts from 27" to 47" height and locks in place
• Rectangular hood is 15-3/4" wide and 11-3/4" high
• 4" O.D. dust collection hose connection

I use this tool with my Jet dust collector with a 4" hose system. Solution to my collection problems. Did have to adapt for my hose system but, best buy for my small shop.
Dust collector with stand
I just purchased this dust collector with stand. After reading other reviews on the web site, I was concerned with how to fit the unit with my dust collector. I tried every fitting in the woodcraft store and none would marry up to the rear end of the dust collector tube. I finally tried an dust control flex cuff (PN 153235) and it fit perfectly. I then attached a quick connect to to other end. Supprisingly, the end that connected to the quick connect side was harder to install than to the dust collector with floor stand. I hope this will help those who might consider buying this unit as it is very useful for several applications in the workshop.
Works ok, hose connection needs improvement
I used the floor-mounted dust collection on my radial arm saw. It is connected to a DELTA AP400 Shopmaster 1-Horsepower 650 CFM dust collector. It does a decent job of collecting dust from the saw, not perfect but much better than without. It is sturdy and stable. My biggest complaint, as mentioned by others, is the hose connection will not fit 4" quick connect fittings. I use my 4" hose for my jointer, table saw and planer as well as with this unit. Unfortunately, my quick connect fitting (from Woodcraft no less) does not fit on this unit. My solution was to install a stub piece of 4" hose on the collector with a 4" hose coupling on the end that will work with my quick connect.
Fine if it happens to fit your location, connections and tools. Otherwise prepare to figure out how to modify it to work.
dust collection on buffing machine
The product is great for sanding
I use this when sanding to reduce the cloud of dust that results. A powerful dust collector is needed or it will not be that effective. (I use a 3 horsepower cyclone system and it works fairly well.) I also have a HEPA filter on the dust collector so the dust is properly screened out.
Close to perfect (but not quite)
The only problem is that the diameter of the outlet is slightly too large to support 4" quick disconnects, including the one that Woodcraft itself sells.
It does exactly what I needed it to do!
I use the Dust Hood with my mini lathe when sanding my turned tops. It has made a huge difference in the dust level in my small shop. It fits perfectly on the back side of the lathe and catches 98% of the sanding dust.
This product sucks
It is used to capture saw dust that ordinarily would be flying around my small workshop.
This unit collects about 50% of saw dust from a radial armsaw. The construction is inprecise. Longing for US Made products.
Made well, very stable
Bought for use with lathe. Still trying to find a location that catches most of the shavings. Made well, stays were you put it. 4" quick disconnect fittings don't quite fit.
Another quality product from Woodcraft
I bought this to catch sawdust from my tilting, slide chop saw. Other commercial collection devices were too big or cheap-looking. This seemed just right, and it is. It's heavy enough to stay put, it's not top heavy and not prone to tipping over, and the mouth of the collection cone is about the right size for the sawdust spray that comes from my saw. It is built to high quality standards, something I've come to expect from Woodcraft. The angle adjustment for the hood has an indexed ring so the cone will stay at the angle you set it at and it won't slip "head down" or "head up" during use. The ONLY aspect which I was disappointed with as others seem to have noted was the 4" pipe at the end where dust collectors would attach. The tube is made of steel and is painted. The "matching" fittings for connect dust collectors that are available in most home or tool stores are ABS and of a size where fitting the two together is almost impossible. My suggestion is to either have Woodcraft make a slightly larger diameter tube for its stand or for the buyer to create a way to keep that tube and the vacuum hose connected without falling off on its own. Other than that, I am very glad I bought it.
Need a jet engine for intake!
I use it with a wood turning lathe. It might catch some of the fine dust but certainly not all. It needs a "big" vacuum to be efficient. My vacuum is a 6.5 hp shop-vac and it is not enough for the large open mouth of the hood.
Dust Hood - problems!
I purchased two separate attachments so I could attach my shop vac hose and nothing was the correct size. I had to increase the ID of the last plastic piece I was sent on my lathe so it would fit the 4" hose attachment on the rear of the unit. Not real happy about this.
heavy stand, as needed
could be a little smaller, that would improve the suction
Allows me to power carve and sand while seated at my desk, yet can easily be moved to work with my band saw and lathe.
better than expected
very well made
No more sanding dust
The sanding dust is captured and no longer comes up at you on the lathe. The larger chips are not grabbed by the suction so clean up is still needed.
First Rate and Great for Lathe Use
I use this for my lathe, especially when sanding. I can park it right behind the rails and every bit of sanding dust is drawn away and collected. Large chips may not always get collected, but I am not breathing in large chips! I also use it behind my miter saw on open stand. It collects 80-90 percent of my chop saw dust. Great Product and works well.
Not very useful
In a very compact shop I have an older model Delta dust collector on wheels, centrally located, and connect it to whichever machine I am using with a quick disconnect fitting. You don't warn customers that the dust hood is designed for permanent attachment to a hose. The tubing on the hood and the quick disconnect are the same diameter. Consultation with a pro at your Richmond store came up with one possible solution: add a 4" splice with a short piece of hose and clamps, and rasp or sand the open end of the splice to a taper to fit the disconnect. Not easy to do and get the correct taper. One of these days I may put it on the lathe. For now, it stays together just long enough to wrap it in duct tape. Not very convenient.
