October is the month for pumpkins, colorful leaves and Halloween costumes.  For many woodworkers, it’s the time of year when the weather cools down and they get back into their workshops.  It’s also the perfect opportunity to create some fabulous “pink” pens in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

First go at the Walstreet pens

This is my first go at the Wallstreet series of pens and pencils. Was building a pen and pencil set to be auctioned off at a charity. Was surprised at the different hues of the black titanium when rooting through the box at my local store. Took some time to match blacks between the pen and pencil sets. Was further discouraged by the difference in barrel lengths between the pen and pencil sets. Overall length is the same, but when lined up at the top of the clip, the nibs do not line up so the pair looks unbalanced. Once assembled, the pen is a little hard to turn. Not sure if I have some epoxy caught in the tube end, but now that it is assembled, it's a little hard to get anything in the tube to try a clean out and there is no mention to ensure a thoroughly clean barrel.

      Great Look for Gifts

I use these for gifts. They have the harder Gold in contrast with the Titanium plus the ratio between the two are excellent - elegant look and style - They are really accepted well for Business purposes or adds class to the home desk... They are simple to make with little effort..... Looks great with Burl woods or most of the acrylics! They think you spent a mint!

      Pick of the litter

I allowed each of my grown children the option of selecting from fifteen different pen styles. Each of the four selected this pen and I don't blame them.

Nice and simple, but Elegant Pen Kit

I have been turning pens for many years, but got away from it for a few years. These pen kits were my first foray into pen turning recently. What I like about these kits is that they need only one piece of material. This allows me to use all those short bits that I have been saving for these years, that may not be long enough or have a mate to make a 2-piece pen. From one 14" sq. x 3" thick square turning blank, the cutoff corners yielded over a dozen excellent single pen blanks - a very efficient use of a scarce material. In addition these pens have a nice finish which gives them a very elegant look - people really appreciated getting these as Christmas gifts.
