Nothing says quality like furniture made with hand-cut dovetails, and nothing makes crafting them easier than the selection of Veritas items that we have put together. Dovetails require precise layout and precision cutting. Both can be accomplished with this kit. Kit includes:
Veritas Fine-Cut Dovetail Saw. The spine is molded from an advanced material that incorporates stainless steel powder for weight, glass fiber for stiffness, and a polymer resin binder. An over-molded blade and stainless steel handle-mounting bolt create a solid one-piece blade/spine/mount assembly, and a single brass fastener secures the Bubinga handle. Made of high carbon steel, the blade of each is 9-1/4" long and 0.020" thick, with a cut depth of about 1-9/16". These comfortable, well-balanced saws are all 14-1/4" long overall.Veritas 1:6, 1:8 & 14° Dovetail Saddle Markers. The anodized aluminum markers make quick and accurate work of marking dovetails. The long leg and right angle allow for a continuous line to be transferred around the corner which makes it possible for the angle line and straight line to be marked at the same time. 1:6 is for softwoods, 1:8 for hardwoods, and 14° for thinner stock.Veritas Dual Marking Gauge. The new Veritas Dual Marking Gauge has two independently adjustable rods with hardened steel wheel cutters that cut the wood fibers instead of tearing them. The cutting wheels are oriented with opposing bevels, ensuring that you can always set the bevel in the waste side of a cut. One rod has its cutting edge at the extreme end of the rod, making it useful for transferring dimensions such as tenon shoulder and mortise depth. Each cutter can be retracted into the brass face for safe storage or to permit use with a single cutter. The eccentric placement of the rods ensures a large reference face and helps the gauge resist rolling on a surface.
