Stayed clear w/ 300/21 epoxy
~I used this to help keep a gel coat from running down the sides of a baptismal pool. ~I used it with 300/21 epoxy from AeroMarine products, a cycloaliphatic non-blushing clear epoxy. Constant indoor 70 degree and 50% humidity conditions during use. ~It did not white out with this epoxy but stayed very clear. ~It HELPED the gel coat not to run, but even at a very thick ratio (difficult) it ran pretty bad on the second coat. Perhaps stay with a lighter mixture and then you'll be able to put a thin-enough coat on that it will not run on vertical surfaces.

Not Just For Epoxy Anymore
I've used this product as a component of of epoxy, fashioning whole structural elements in which the original wood was long gone. Works great - solid, mill-able, sand-able and paint-able. However! My best discovery is as a thickening additive to oil-based finishes for use as a grainfill. At approx. 3:1, silica:finish volume ratio, it makes a smooth, clear, spreadable grainfill that perfectly blends with finish topcoats.
