The RED TAIL Offset Ruler is a precision layout tool designed to support accurate measuring and marking for cabinetry, panel work, and general woodworking projects. Its flat‑edge locking slider expands the ruler’s functionality beyond standard measurement, allowing it to serve as an offset guide, square, and angle layout tool in one streamlined design.

When used with the ruler face down, the tool functions as a straightedge for measuring and marking. Flipped over, the locking slider can be positioned against the edge of a workpiece to support perpendicular and 45° layout lines referenced from either side. The slider adjusts along the length of the ruler and locks in place, helping maintain consistent reference points during repetitive layout tasks.

The ruler incorporates Swan Tool Group’s Tru‑Mark Precision Marking Technology. Subtle rabbets along the ruler edges offset the pencil tip, allowing lines to be placed directly where intended without compensating for lead thickness. This helps reduce parallax errors when laying out parts. A dedicated pencil saddle at the end of the ruler further supports accurate line placement by positioning the pencil lead precisely at the edge.

Built to lay flat during use, the RED TAIL Offset Ruler promotes stable contact with work surfaces for improved accuracy. Its expandable platform allows the ruler to be swapped with compatible sizes from the Red Tail Ruler Set (sold separately), offering flexibility to adapt the tool for different layout needs.
