    Excellent Tool

I bought my first lathe last April and in October I bought this tool to make a couple semi enclosed bowls from Maple burl for Christmas gifts. Although the tool would serve better with larger and deeper bowls I made some fairly shallow hollow forms with it, roughly 1 3/4" deep at a 8 1/2" diameter. They turned out nice and I was pleased at how the hollower worked. Recently I turned another for my wife to put on her desk at work, the attached photos are of that item. For me the Hollow Master is worth the money.

one of the best buys for hollowing

i use both the straight shank and goose neck large hollowers. if shapened properly they work very well. you must make sure you have the tool rest so that the tools are horizontal. I found it best for me to very carefully grind the bevel and then using a diamond stone, hone the flat edge. i have used them both on vases and hollow forms. using the scraper tool, i use it to shave the inside and outside of the work to get rid of tool marks. it is like having 3 tools in one. one tool for hollowing, one for inside of boxes and one for shaving. great tool which i would recommend to anyone.

Tool Did Not Work For Me

Even after sharpening the cutter, the tool would not cut wood. The instructions were minimal and useless and the video was of no help. This was the first Sorby turning tool I have bought that did not work as advertised. [...]

    Does what I ask

With any new tool, it takes a little getting used to. Once you have the feel for it though, does a very nice job. Very impressed with the round scraper and the job it does.
