Rob Cosman has been woodworking for most of his life. While earning a B.Sc. in Industrial Technology/Furniture Design at Brigham Young University, he was Dr. Dale L. Nish's teaching assistant. Rob has also worked with many of the world's best craftsmen – including Alan Peters, Sam Maloof, Tage Frid, Monroe Robinson and Peter Korn. In "Rough to Ready," Rob demonstrates how to prepare rough lumber with hand tools. This 47-minute DVD includes flattening the first face, trueing the face with the use of winding sticks, squaring the reference edge, planing to width using a panel gauge, squaring the ends with a shooting board, planing to thickness, and sharpening tips for blades.

Excellent!
I am an active amateur woodworker, and I gather and mill all of my own hardwood. I have asked about smoothing large boards by hand in several classes and read a number of articles on the subject, but Cosman's video is all you need. He covers the subject.
