    Red Elm (Ulmus rubra) is found in the Eastern to Midwestern United States. Red Elm’s heartwood is light to reddish-brown with a paler sapwood that is easily defined. Interlocking grain makes this wood very resistant to splitting, but it can be somewhat challenging to work. Glues, stains, and finishes well. Excellent wood choice for steam bending. Holds nails and screws well.
