Don't waste your money
Your clamps that hold the two rails, are some times in the way of router. move them farther apart on rail, and the letters fall out when routeing wrecking project. or letters bend wrecking project.

Nice product but needs some improvement
I used the kit to make Christmas presents for my kids. The reviews were good and I liked the option of having two sizes of letters included. However, I have a Bosch 1617EVS router with fixed and plunge base and I had a very difficult time getting the base plate to work. In addition, it would NOT work with the plunge base due to the depth of cut needed. Even on the fixed base I had to set the bit out further than I would have liked to get the depth needed.

Next time I'll try something else
I'm not terribly fond of the font, but I got this kit because it comes with the guide bushings and router bits, and because the lettering style matched that of the signs I was trying to fit in with. When it arrived, there was a chip out of one of the rail holders. Not anything that keeps me from using the tool, but showed a lack of attention to detail in packaging. The guide bushings use the Milescraft baseplate rather than being standard Porter-Cable style screw-ins. This would be fine, except that the Milescraft baseplate isn't drilled out for my router (Festool OF-1010), and the number of screw holes in it makes it difficult to drill it out for my router. Luckily, the Festool 17mm guide bushing works (and I didn't have to do yet another mail order for a bushing), however, in actually cutting out letters using the jig there's a bunch of juggling of the clips that hold the rails together, and an awful lot of flex in the rails. If I'm not conscious of these, the rails squeeze apart and the letters fall out (and get dinged by the router bit). And the letters are recessed slightly from the rails, so I have to be careful that my router base stays up on the rails. With those caveats, I'm actually able to turn out letters fairly well. The first line of lettering I did went quickly, and aside from my rail management problem which screwed up my second line, I expect to be able to turn out letters fairly well. If I had unlimited time, I'd buy some slightly thicker plastic, rout some rabbets so that it stood flush with the rails, and cut myself some better looking letters. Or just buy one of the other kits. So it's fine, does what says on the box, but there's an awful lot of room to make it better, and I'd suggest you look to other lettering kits to see if someone else has done so.

Easy way to make signs.
Made good leters first time out.
-
Great tool
works as advertised
-
Hard to set up
It's ok, a little hard to set up and you have to be real careful not to chip away the inside of letters such as A, B, and R. You can't rush.

Milescraft Sign & Chacter Set is great
Use a plunge router and base plate that excepts guide bushings and any one can make great signs. Your router base plate must be able to use guide bushings.I had to buy Milescraft universal base plate to use sign kit so spend the extra $20 and get the base plate for the bushings. System is easy to use. I have made 30 signs using Milescraft sign jig and bearing set.Fixed base router makes job difficult and you will make mistakes and ruin the plastic letters.

Easy to setup & use right out of the box
I make gifts for family and friends. I wanted to make names for some people I know. It was easy to setup and use right out of the box. I hope I can find different letter styles.

Does what it says it will do, but ...
You can make a basic sign with this. It takes a little time to set up. It is a little flimsy. Letter storage is a hassle (not manufacturers fault, just a necessary evil). Is better than nothing (I am not good at free-handing letters!)

very nice signmaking jig
This jig is sturdy enough for most do it yourselfers. The directions are simple because it is extremely simple to assemble. Take your time and use commen sense routing the letters or numbers.

Good product, Great with a couple change
Out of box and just a little reading and using jig was easy. I put names on some stools for grandkids. Some letters when put next next to each other seem to have to much space between them compared to the rest (L and V were the two I had). Also the letter 'R' and 'N' I did not like in practice. I used the template but stopped short and did some free hand work as well. A good tool and with all jigs practice several times on scrap before the real thing. I would recommend it, just be sure to practice before using it on the real thing.

Made in China
The overall design of this sign making kit is not bad, but, if in fact the Chinese are building them to the specification provided by Milescraft, the specs should be changed. The guide bushings (0.625") are too small for the templates (0.657")by at least 0.025". The router would still move freely and the results would be more consistant with the desired outcomes. I used three complete wraps of vinyl electrical tape on the guide bushing to make a half way decent sign. I believe if the folks at Milescraft had more interest in providing a good product, built in the USA, and less concern about short term profits, they would make more in the long run and provide the consumers with a much better product. I will not buy another Milecraft product.

i would buy it again

Horizontal Lettering Only
Been wanting to get this for a few years and seized my opportunity when I had a project to engrave our name on a 2x6 for a vertical slat in the gate to my porch. Didn't read through the details like I should have. When I got the product, it only had vertical numbers. Looked to see if there was another template set to purchase and there wasn't. Works great. Easy to use and I'm glad I bought it. I did tape each letter on the 2x6 and it worked fine.

It works
I received the product but was dismayed to find that the screws provided to attach the router plate do not fit a Bosch 1617. Customer service told me that I needed to go to a local store to buy screws that fit. After having done so, I received another e-mail from Milescraft stating that they might have the needed screws and would send them. Not needing them I declined. When I attempted to set up the system I found that one of the rails was not true and that it would not fit. Another e-mail to them resulted in a [...] replacement. After set up, the sign was a breeze to make. Subsequent uses were very satisfying. Over all, I like the product and recommend it for fast set up and ease of use.

Simple and Effective
I bought this to make a couple of simple signs because it appeared to be a complete one-stop-shopping kit. That representation is completely correct. However, if you're doing more than simple signage, you'll be disappointed. The font is uninspiring and the spacing between letters is not easily adjusted.

Only thing not included is spell check
Made a couple of signs for my granddaughter and came out great.
-
Makes good simple signs
Making simple signs got easier. Simple to assemble and use. The frame could be beefier and the letters could fit more snuggly in the frame. More fonts would be nice to have.
-
ok, but not a winner
I was disappointed in quality and construction of the tool. I do not believe a professional signmaker would use this SIGNPRO, because I don't believe it would hold up in full-time use. On the other hand it was simple to set up and I was quite happy with the very first sign I made.

USED IT ONCE
I had to add 1/8 inch to the bottom of the ends so the bushing wouldn't touch the piece I was working on...
-
signs all the time
this is an excellent product, very easy to use, however it needs a better way to clamp down the center of the jig to keep it from moving around while using the router
