    Details

Compressed full-grained 4/5 ounce bark tanned cowhide is specifically intended for use in making hones. This 6" x 12" section of leather also includes instructions for making and using the hone. Hones work nicely for maintaining edges on sharp tools during use, depending in part on the silica contained in some animal hides. Each piece of our hone leather is hand selected, with smooth and textured sides, so that the preferred side may be used.
    Features:
    • When used properly, a wide variety of grinding and polishing surfaces can be created
    • All smooth hide can be cleaned by using a small amount of mineral spirits
    • Hide is split and starts out at just over 1/8" thick - then compressed to a uniform thickness
    • Hide is bark tanned and compressed specifically for the purpose of creating hones

      Great quality and great value.

Cut into two pieces 3in by 12 in. Glued rough side on one side of 3 in by 12 in board and smooth side on other. I use it for honing knives and it works great. Very high quality leather.

      Great Piece of Leather

I bought this piece of leather to make my own strops for sharpening my bushcraft and survival knives. The piece was plenty big enough to make several strops of various sizes. I purchased a 2 oz. bottle of Gorilla Glue to adhere it to the wood bases--worked perfectly!

      Perfect for honing tools.

The leather came flat not rolled up like in the picture which was my main concern. Enough to make a nice size hone of your own. Good for what I wanted it for!

      Leather Strops Keep You Sharp!

I cut into 11/2" wide strips and glued a smooth and textured side to both sides of a shaped wooden handle to make great honing strops for woodworking tools and knives. Enough material for over 4 such strops. Quality leather with unblemished surface and easy to work with. The textured side needed a few brushes with an edge to raise the leather to readily hold sharpening compound. You with enjoy how it greatly improves the final product of any sharpening project.
