good looking,easy to assemble.
Top portion length critical
Getting the top portion of the pen (short) length is critical. Don't sand or do any cutting of short brass tube and blank. At final assembly don't worry if Twist Mechanism (D) protrubes ever so lightly. Excessive pressure pressing (D) into upper barrel will damage delicate inside threads rendering the kit trash.
People like how it looks
The interior twist of about 40% of the pens I have turned do not function correctly after assembly. Slightly disappointed with the interior of the dcouble twist pens.
feel and appeal
I build the pens to sell and like them for my own use also. The last Hart pen that I recieved had a bad twist mechanism and I did not try it before insertion. I now have a wonderful looking pen that you cannot turn. Hope to be able to get it out somehow. The pens are not to large to appeal to women and look really good in acrylics.
Wow, I made one in Gold, dressed in Black Walnut. I think it came out great. I'm still working on my finishing technique, so I have a few issues. Apparently 14 people at work liked it too. They each wanted one. The only issue I have with the pen is the transmission. It has it's moments were it doesn't want to work. Then I pick it up later to work on it and it operates as it should. I'm not sure if it is binding like was mentioned before, or if there is another underlying problem. Anyway, the pen style is popular, so I'll work through it. I just keep replacing the trans that cause me issues and move on. Overall, the style is awesome. I Love the Double Twist.
Well balanced pen
I have done about a dozen of these pens. They are nicely balance and work smoothly once the secrets are learned. The elevator must protrude very slightly beyond the end of the cap otherwise the end cap will bind on the center ring. Do not wipe the grease off the elevator or it will cause binding. I have had 2 bad elevators to date that keep rotating without doing anything. Spend the extra money and buy a Parker refill - You'll be glad you did.
Very neat pen
I made one of these pens one evening just for grins. It was a new kit that I had never used. I will be using more in the future. The pen has a great feel. Not too small but certainly not bulky feeling either. I just love these pens.
