The double screw vise has been around for centuries. Commonly referred to as a “Moxon Vise,” it is named after Joseph Moxon, who described the double screw vise in his book titled Mechanick Exercises.
Often the height of a workbench may be too low for comfort, depending on the task. Building your own Moxon Vise is the perfect way to save your back while elevating your work and hand tool skills. Great for cutting dovetail or mortise and tenon joinery. Use these hard maple billets, along with the WoodRiver® Moxon Vise Hardware Kit (sold separately), to customize your own Moxon Vise. Build it any size to best suit your needs.
