The Groz 7" Plain Screw Woodworking Vise is manufactured from close-grained grey cast iron for long, trouble-free service. Accurately machined housings assure smooth sliding movement while the solid steel guide rods reduce wear and tear. Vise jaws are equipped with a “toe-in” feature. When fully closed, the jaws meet only at the top to provide even clamping on the whole depth of the work piece.
- Jaw Width: 7" (175 mm)
- Jaw Opening: 8"

7" Woodworker's Vice
This is a good vice. Adjusts easily and stays true. The handles are long enough and have some mass to them to spin with just 1 finger (unloaded). Wide enough to face the jaws with good thick hardwood. One fault is that the knobs on the end of the adjustment handle seem to want to come undone on their own and drop it to the floor, but a drop of blue Loctite fixes that in a jiffy.
Groz 7 inch Vise durability issue
I bought the item a few years ago and mounted it on my work bench. It worked fine for a couple years with minimal use. Unfortunately, the "threaded piece" that allows the threaded rod to slip quickly has worn out and does not engage and the one year warranty is no longer valid. I disassembled the vise and found that tightening a screw holding the "threaded piece" will permanently hold the "threaded piece" in place and engage the threaded rod. Unfortunately the quick slide function will no longer work and turning the vise takes greater effort. I envision the "threaded piece" will eventually erode and provide no purchase. This item would probably be more dependable when I source a simple nut replacement for the "threaded piece" like the 50 year old vise I have on the other end of the bench that is still going strong, rather than the nonfunctioning quick slide nut.
