    Long Body

I agree with other reviewers that the resulting pens are beautiful and well balanced. I made another one today with a gorgeous dyed burl. After making many pens I am struck by how far the retraction mechanism needs to be pushed down into the body of this pen in order to make the point protrude the recommended amount at the tip. It seems to me that the body tube for this pen is spec'ed about 3/16" too long. The next time I make one I may shorten the body a touch....that will have the result of shortening the overall length of the pen, which may affect the balance.

    European pen kit

I have used this kit for years and still proves to be very popular. Well balanced and very comfortable to use for extended periods of time. It is becoming expensive but what isn't these days. Sometimes the ink seems to gather on the outside of the point and if you don't wipe it off, it has a tendency to smear. But I still highly recommend this pen!
