How do you improve on our most popular pepper mill blank? Add some figure. The figure in these blanks will make the easy-to-turn cherry pepper mills stand out. Cherry (Prunus serotina) features heartwood in reddish-brown to deep red, with brown flecks, and will naturally darken with age. Cherry is known as one of the best all-around woods for workability. It is stable, straight-grained, and machines well. Commonly used in furniture construction and turned items, Cherry has a decent strength-to-weight ratio, though it’s not as hard as some other denser domestic hardwoods. Grain runs with the longest dimension. USA.
