Easy to use and effective with a hole in base plate so it can swivel

Very easy to use (so I clamp my work every time, rather try trusting that I had hold it adequately with my hands). The adjustment screw is fairly small, and the clamping force tends to fall off after several cycles (so you have to adjust it back up), but I selected this brand for the hole provided in the baseplate, roughly under the center of the clamp - this allowed me to make a miter sled for my band saw and router table with a clamp that swivels to apply pressure in line with the miter slider, so it doesn't twist the sled (as well as adjusting to the work piece thickness).

Bessey engineer gets an A from me

OK, so this is billed as an "auto-adjust" clamp. What that comes down to is that you select the clamping force once and then you're done. A huge range of thicknesses is accommodated; thick to thin, all are squeezed with the same force. This is accomplished with a very clever and compact mechanism. I mounted it temporarily and passed it around the table at gents' coffee, and everyone admired it as much as I did as it grabbed any of a selection of sticks. Force is adjusted with easily accessible screw, but you might need a small wrench to work the jam nut if you want to secure it in a production situation. I like the two-parameter adjustment of the pad: distance from pivot and height. You can see this aspect in the catalog photos, though the auto-adjust mechanism is not visibly obvious. As an engineer I want to take it apart, but I shall resist the temptation. It's so solidly put together I'd bust it in the attempt. Buy one, try it, and you'll be back for more.

    Great product!

I bought these to add to a horizontal router table I had set up for mortising. I was constantly going between different thicknesses of stock and resetting my old toggle clamps for each stock thickness was a pain. I was skeptical at first but these work exactly as advertised. They get moved from one jig to another and my old toggle clamps, which I have lots of, don't get used any more.
