Power, precision and adjustable sizing! Increase your turning capacity with the turn of a switch. The motorized sliding bed moves to the right (away from the headstock) to double the standard center-to-center distance from 20” to an impressive 40”. The right movement also increases the swing from 25-3/16” to 31-13/16” over the lower bed. Ideal for turning large bowls or platters.

The robust lathe was developed with professional turners in mind. The extra heavy-duty design is made of solid cast iron and steel construction to take the stress of larger diameter bowls and spindles. The 3HP TEFC, 220V motor combined with four heavy-duty bearings in the headstock and digital speed controls provide all the power and precision needed.

The 70-3040 VSR Lathe delivers ample power from its beefy 3HP motor to turn larger diameter or longer projects in either forward or reverse modes. A rear-located, main safety on/off switch ensures that all power is shut off when the lathe is not in use.

The control box has a magnetic back so that it can be set anywhere along the lathe for quick access. The large dials and knobs are friendly to any size hands when operating the controls. A LCD Speed display is mounted to the headstock and shows spindle speed in big, bold, easy-to-read numbers from 20 to 3850 RPM. Setting the right speed for your project is simple.

The 3-step multi-V pulleys include 36 indexing positions to secure the spindle allowing you to create decorative details on your work. The index pin can be easily activated from the front of the headstock.

Precision Acme threading on the tailstock quill extends to 4-3/4”. The handy storage shelf built into the casting holds the 2 centers and knock out bar. The sturdy metal legs of the stand offer further storage options with inner supports for adding your own shelves or sandbags for added weight to discourage vibration or lathe movement if it is not bolted down.

The cast iron tool rest base is extra wide and sturdy for increased stability when extended out for turning bowl and platter rims. Use the included 4” Tool Rest Height Extension to put tool rests in proper position for large work.

Includes lathe, stand, spur center, live center, faceplate, tool rest, tool rest height extension, knock-out bars, wrenches and tool holder.
