Gary's basic bowl class concentrates on the craft of making a wooden bowl for everyday practical use. The basics of wood selection, mounting the wood to the lathe, design elements and the use of bowl gouges to turn and shape the bowl. Sanding and finishing will also be discussed. Learn how to use the miter saw, planer, jointer, and table saw to safely prepare and correctly dimension wood. You will also be introduced to the drum sander, router table and bandsaw. Virtually every wood project begins with this exercise and a thorough understanding of the basics will be a great foundation upon which you may build a safe and creative hobby experience.
