Come carve an easy little Santa and Christmas tree.
This is a beginnner class but even experienced carvers enjoy making these little gnome like santas. We will carve a Quebec style gnome and tree with just a knife and a V-tool. The instructor will have extra tools for students to borrow.
Take the simple pattern we will be working from and use your imagination to make more at home with the skills you learn in class.
Instructor- Rick O'Coin has been carving for over 30 years. He learned first with Benoi Deschenes in Quebec and at the Geisler-Moroder school in Austria. A member of the Maine Woodcarvers and the New England Woodcarvers.

Quiet Hands; Serene Mind; The Peaceful Art of Kumiko
Try your hand at the traditional Japanese craft of Kumiko. The subtle precision of this artform is a peaceful way to engage both hands and mind.
In this class, students will learn the basic techniques of this centuries-old Japanese woodworking art form. We will cover some basic hand tool skills and safety, and then spend the bulk of our time together building the traditional hemp leaf (Asa-No-Ha) pattern. The Asa-No-Ha pattern incorporates all the fundamental skills needed for future exploration of the Kumiko art form. At the end of the workshop (~4 hours), you should leave with a completed decorative panel.
Price included all materials. Tools and jis will be provided for this workshop. Jigs and/or additional panel strips are available and can be ordered for purchase.
*Kumiko requires being able to see and work with small pieces of wood and so it is recommended that you bring reading or other corrective lenses for close-up work if your vision necessitates it.
