The Basic Cabinet Class is a foundational woodworking course designed to equip beginners with the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to construct a Shaker style cabinet. The cabinet dimensions are 16" x 24" x 35". Throughout the course, students will learn essential techniques such as measuring, cutting, and using pocket holes to join wood to create functional and aesthetically pleasing cabinets. The curriculum covers topics including selecting appropriate tools and materials, and safely operating woodworking machinery. Under Bill Martin's guidance, participants will gain hands-on experience allowing them to develop confidence and proficiency in cabinet making. By the end of the course, students will have the skills to embark on their own cabinet-making projects with competence and creativity.

Students will be using Walnut, Hard Maple, Cherry, and Purpleheart to make a 12" x 15" cutting board. They will be learning woodworking techniques on a Powermatic planer, Jet drum sander, and Sawstop table saw and router table. Students will also learn the different types of cutting boards, ideal wood species for the cutting board, and different techniques on how to finish cutting boards.

In this hands-on class, students will learn how to create a stunning stair step end grain cutting board using a bandsaw. Throughout the class, students will be guided through the process of using a bandsaw to make all the cuts, gluing techniques, pattern alignment, flattening, and finishing techniques allowing participants to add a protective and food-safe coating to their cutting boards. By the end of the class, students will have gained valuable skills in woodworking and will take home their own custom-made stair step end grain cutting board, ready to use and display in their kitchen.
