Elegant letters combine with geometric shapes

This exquisite design is inspired by Italian-style letters developed by Luca Pacioli in the late 1400s. The sharp angles and flowing circles create a pleasing harmony together. The pattern can be cut from a variety of materials including hardwood, plywood, thin metal, acrylic, or paper. Cut a colored acrylic backer to create a stunning stained glass effect. Sandwich several sheets of colored paper between thin plywood or cardboard to create overlays for custom Christmas cards.
This pattern is sized for 3/8" thick material. It can be enlarged or reduced to suit your needs. If you choose to enlarge the pattern, a thicker wood is recommended. There are several perfectly round circles that can be cut with the scroll saw or made by using drill bits of different diameters. If you don’t have a drill bit to fit, you can drill undersized holes and use sandpaper wrapped around a dowel to sand the hole to size. The dowel and sandpaper will also smooth out the circles, if you choose to cut them on the scroll saw.

Materials:
3/8" x 3" x 11" hardwood of choice
Assorted grits of sandpaper
Dowel (to wrap sandpaper around to sand holes)
Finish of choice
Tools:
#5 and #1 reverse-tooth blades or blades of choice
Drill with assorted sizes of drill bits ranging from 1/16" diameter through 5/8"-diameter
