Use a 1 inch strip of 3/16 polycarbonate as a featherboard to hold material in place while ripping on the table saw. The polycarbonate plastic is simply held in place against the miter gauge with a C-clamp. On my Ryobi BT 3000, it is extra simple because the miter gauge can be moved across as the board gets narrower; however the concept will work on regular miter gauges too!
