In this video Kevin makes a Cheese Slicer using one of our WoodRiver Kits Cheese Slicer Hardware Kits.

The WoodRiver Cheese Slicer Hardware kit makes for an easy woodworking project that requires only a few tools to make and can be customized to create the perfect holiday gift. Cheese Slicers can be made relatively quickly and can be a great way to utilize those “special” offcuts and scrap wood that you just can’t throw. This makes for a great last-minute gift or, if you start early enough, a great project to make and sell at craft fairs and farmers’ markets.

This is a beginner-friendly woodworking project, but there are still some tips and tricks that will help make your time in the woodshop enjoyable and less frustrating If you don’t have access to a drill press, drilling holes for the hardware kit may be difficult if done by hand. If you have a doweling jig, it’s time to use it. While you may not be able to drill the full depth, you can get a straight and center hole started. Then remove the doweling jig and use the hole you drilled as your new guide. Making sure this is straight and centered is crucial and will make cutting the slot on a table saw much easier later.

You can use any food-safe finish for this cheese slicer. Unless you plan to also be cutting on the surface, you can use something more durable and long-lasting. Of course, the straightforward option is to use your favorite finish for cutting boards and charcuterie boards

Designed for precision and ease of use, this woodworking kit is perfect for entertaining guests or enhancing your kitchen tools collection. The ergonomic handle and sharp cutting wire ensure smooth, consistent slices, whether you’re serving soft or firm cheeses. Compact and stylish, it makes a great gift for cheese lovers and home cooks alike.
