Pen Turning Basics

Monday, August 11, 9:30 AM - 2 PM

Use basic spindle turning skills to craft two beautiful wooden ink pens. Learn all the components used such as pen blanks, mandrels, pen mills and the pen press. Next you will make a Slim Line pen, then choose to either make a Wall Steet II pen or a Cigar pen on the lathe. Pen turning is easy and enjoyable, and you end up with a couple of great ink pens. Woodshop 101 at Night

Part 1: Wednesday, August 13, 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Part 2: Thursday, August 14, 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Looking to get started in woodworking but not sure where to begin? This is the class for you! Louis will introduce you to the most common tools in the shop and assure you understand how to operate each of them safely. You will also learn the essentials about wood grain and movement as you move through the milling process. Students will be paired up during the class, and will leave with a cutting/serving board that will be a joy to show off. This is a hands-on class so come ready to get dirty, have some fun, and create something beautiful!! This is a two session night class. Router Basics

Friday, August 15, 9 AM - 12 PM

During this hands-on class students will learn about the different types of routers, router bits, maintenance procedures, and safety tips. After some open discussion about how a router can be an asset in your shop, you will move into actual operation. It is time for a few skill drills and learn to apply proper techniques to get a smooth profile on your project. This is a great refresher class and stepping stone to the afternoon class which is Router Table Basics. No Refunds for Cancellations/Reschedules within 7 days of Class date.
