Hand Cut Dovetails W/ Chris Gochnour with: Chris Gochnour
All

Saturday, February 23, 11:30 AM - 6:30 PM

Tools Required: See Recommended Tools Above.
Description: Come learn to hand cut dovetails from a local woodworking master. Learn proper techniques to measuring, marking and cutting blind and through cuts which will incorporate both techniques in a small drawer build. Chris has been teaching for many years and is a contributing editor for Fine Woodworking magazine. Dovetail joinery is a hallmark of fine craftsmanship. It's also the joint to use if you want your work to stand the test of time. In this workshop, Chris Gochnour will teach students of all skill levels the fundamentals of hand cut dovetails. The workshop will start with sawing exercises so students become proficient with a dovetail saw. Next, students will layout and execute a practice joint utilizing through dovetails. The afternoon will be spent building a small drawer using traditional dovetail techniques, including through dovetails at the back and blind dovetails in the front. Students will leave with a thorough understanding of a practical and efficient process for dovetailing that makes this time-honored joint such a pleasure to build. Woodcraft will provide the wood for the workshop. Students are encouraged to bring their own tools.
