Description: This is a walk-in class, no appointment needed. Classes will be from noon-4pm and each ornament will take about 30 minutes. Students will be able to pick from three designs.In this class , students will learn the basics of turning and will leave with a finished ornament.

Woodturning - Mallet And Bowl with Brian G. DelCastello

Class Size: Minimum 2 Maximum 4
Description: Want to turn a wooden carver's mallet? How about a turned wooden bowl? This is your chance to make both…. This two-day class will focus on various aspects of turning on a lathe. We will start off with shop safety lathe selection, tuning, and operation. We will be using Easy Wood Tools® turning tools for this class. These carbide turning tools make turning a fun and easy activity. While on the lathe, we will begin with spindle turning, ultimately finishing with a carver's mallet. The second portion of the class will focus on turning a bowl. To better assist students to finish the projects, we will be using dried wood for the turnings. This will allow the students to take home a completed mallet and bowl, ready for their choice of finish. Time permitting, we will try out a couple of other surprise projects.

Beginning Pen Turning with Brigham Cook

Prerequisite: Note: Students must be at least 16; students 13-15 yrs may enroll but must have instructor approval and accompanying parent
Tools Required: All Tools, Including Hand And Power, Will Be Provided During The Class.
Class Size: Minimum 3 Maximum6
Description: This is a great introduction to turning wood on a lathe, with the end product being a pen to keep that you made yourself from start to finish. We cover the basics of safety, the parts of a lathe, lathe tools, and accessories, as well as everything you need to start making pens, magic wands, hairsticks, Christmas ornaments, and other turned creations! During the five-hour class, students in the class will learn how to select and cut wood pen blanks, drill and mount the blanks on the lathe, turn the pen barrels, apply finish, and assemble a pen. And the skills learned in this class will easily transfer to other spindle turning classes or projects.

Description: Join Jess Crow, one of the nation's leading epoxy artistic woodworking innovators, for this brand new class where you will learn how to create a river style round. This round can be used as a clock, serving tray, lazy susan or more. Once you have the concept down you will be able to take this technique and turn it into a table of any size or shape. Jess will guide students through the river style process, including how you prepare a live edge slab*, how to save not only wood, but epoxy, creating a River Style project using Jess's "more is less" method, adding custom colors and designs, selecting and pouring the proper resin, and more! Students will have the option to add either handles or feet to their boards when they come back to pick up their projects.*Note about this class. We will not be using a live edge slab, rather Jess's signature technique to conserve epoxy while having the look of a live river.
