Cover basic lathe operation, safety, tool use, sharpening, as well as five practice exercises covering spindle and bowl work. This class is a must take for any beginning turner! You will learn how to safely and effectively turn and give you the foundation to grow your own skill.
Learn to create decorative designs with a wood-burning tool in this beginner-friendly class. Instructor, Christian Casas, will lead you through the steps from strategy to execution of your very first piece. Learn how to prepare a wooden surface, transfer a design, and use a wood-burning tool to create lines and shading on a wooden object. In this class, I will teach you how to use an essential pyrography tool to turn a simple fern design into a beautiful piece of wood-burned art. You will learn about the required tools and materials and how to use everything safely. We'll go through some types of surfaces you can burn on, different burners and nibs, how to transfer the design onto the wood, burning techniques, and what finishes to use to seal and protect your art. This class is suitable for beginners; no prior experience is necessary. Pyrography is a beautiful craft suitable for all skill levels. You can use it to create many different items for yourself or gifts for others.
Assemble your very own side table using Kreg pocket-hole joinery. What you will learn here is applicable to any piece of furniture you want to build, from small stools to large bookcases. You will go over cutting and dimensioning and then get right into the assembly of the piece. At the end of the day walk out with a side table ready to finish however you like.
This is an introduction to CNC wood working. Each month you will be witness to the process from drawing the project onto the computer to loading the program into the CNC Machine to cutting the project on the CNC machine.
