    Worthless in hardwood

I was disappointed the moment I started using this saw in cherry. The teeth kept breaking time and again. I got tired of moving this saw from place to place in my shop regretting the day I bought it.

    Not for Dovetails

I like this saw. However, I bought it mainly for dovetails. If you are planning to use a fret saw to cut out waste, this saw is not for you. I mic'ed the blade of this saw it is a mere .0123". The kerf of a fret saw is around .020-.021. Good luck getting the saw into your cut much less trying to turn it for the horizontal run. All that said, it is sharp and it cuts well. For as thin as the blade is it does a very good job of staying inline. I am knocking it down a star because it really can't be used for what I intended it to be used for unless I want to chop out all the waste around the dovetails with a chisel. Don't think so.

    Terrific Saw

Wow! Once I got used to a pull saw, I fell in love with this one. Another reviewer said he could split a pencil line, and that is true. It wants to cut in a straight line. It is easy to handle. Yes, some day I may need to replace the blade, but I can live with that.

    Works good

I bought a smaller Japanese saw for a woodworking class, and realized (too late) that I bought the wrong one. I saw what the other students were using, and decided that if I want to get serious about dovetails that I needed the larger (and more expensive) saw. I'm glad I bought it! Works very well, except that the price was a little hard to take. But that's OK, I'm worth it.

    Excellent Saw

One of the best pull saws that I have used. The saw is great for beginners and intermediate woodworkers. The saw is brittle, and will not handle the construction site. I will continue to use the tool for many years to come.

    Good sharp tool

This saw loves to follow scribe and knife marks, making it really nice for small dovetails. Cutting on the pull adds to the accuracy, in my opinion.

    Surprisingly Impressed

Wow! You will not understand how sweet it is until you try it. It is something new for me to be able to split a pencil line.

    Great saw!

I tried this saw while on sale and . . . boy am I glad I did! I've used many backsaws (American and Japanese - cheap and expensive) and none performed any better than this saw. It is dead straight and tracked very well. The final cut is extremely smooth.

    Great saw and great value

On opening the sheath on the saw, you immediately see the typical Japanese quality and attention to detail. The saw has been lovingly and carefully wrapped. Did some trail cuts and then compared them to my western saws and what a difference. Now I've got to come up with a new project that includes dovetails to really put it through it's paces.

Great tool for a rookie dovetailer

Just beginning to learn fine furniture making. Purchased another dovetail saw (push cut) and found it hard to manage. This pull cut, light, long handle allows light pressure to be well managed. A friend let me borrow his for a test run and I was impressed.

    Watch your fingers!

One of the smoothest and fastest cutting saws for small detailed work I've ever used. Wouldn't be without one. This replaced a twenty two year old model of the same saw because several teeth had finally broken.

    A good buy

I have used this type of saw for years, this one is as good as any of them.
