Versatile, portable and very handy
I have bolted this vise to a thick base of plywood, and clamp it to my workbench when I need an extra vise. I made a couple of wooden inserts so that I can clamp wood items without marring the wood. For moderate to light-duty this is a fine vise, especially for those with limited space. As noted above, bolting it to a firm base lets you clamp this base to your work table, then put the assembly out of the way when you don't need it. I don't use the reversible feature too often, but when I do, it is a handy (and unique) vise feature. It is as solid as the day I bought it (4 years ago).

Vise Fail
Can Not lock the vise in position independent of tightening the vise jaws. Whoever thought this was a good idea I Can Not Imagine. That's right folks, the swivel locks from a drag (Long Set Screw) that is placed on the slide of the vise that completely compromises the action of the slide. I just don't get it. The casting is of poor quality, not at all like the crisp clean appearance of the vise in the advertisement. The vise shown in the advertisement must have gone through some serious touch up, blending and rework. I wouldn't use this vise even if someone gave it to me for free. This vise is useless to me and I will be returning it.

Convenient and practical pivoting.
Very convenient to carry tool to the job. Just bolt it to a square of 3/4" plywood and clamp to stable surface, and voila!

Best wood working vise out there!!!!
I have been building muzzleloading guns for over 20 years using the old "Versa-Vise" and there has never been a better vise! For not being made in the USA it is a good quality vise! It even interchanges bases and tilt adaptor with with my vises. The only thing it needs to be the best gun making vise; is have the "tilt adaptor" as an option!

Quality Vise
I use this vise for building Flintlock firearms. My only gripe is that it needs a knob to lock the swivel position. Other than that it is a quality item.

Flexible and well made
Great vise, this allows clamping in nearly any angle and rotation around the center axis. It's durable (I bought it on the recommendation of a lutherie teacher who uses 6 of them daily in his teaching shop), and flexible.

Couldn't ask for better.
I own and run a Gunsmithing business, and this vise is just as good as the old Versa-Vise made years ago. I've used it to hold steel while I've heated it, and pounded on it, and it's held wood stocks while I've inletted them, or carved on them. I've even used it to bend mild steel. The vise is versatile in its quick positioning, and self-locking swivel about its base. It's good for both wood and metalworking, and I couldn't ask for better.

Wonderful!
I am a professional luthier and woodcarver. I highly recommend this vise. I teach woodcarving and luthiery and have fit my classroom shop with one of these vises at each station. I could not be happier with their performance.

My husband loved this gift
I purchased this gift for my husband and he opened it and began using immediately. He loved the fact it could be used vertical or horizontal and could mont it on his workbench. This is his "third hand" when he needs to secure something to work on it.

Most universal vise I've found
It's about as good as it gets.

Vise
I purchased this vise for one use, flattening and straightening Tonkin cane strips for bamboo fly rods. I soak the strips for several days and heat them to soften the fibers, then press them in the vise to flatten and straighten them. After less than 100 strips the vise turned thru, the threads were stripped. I am not a ham fisted individual but pride myself on the quality of tools I purchase, thinking they will last a lifetime. After this structural failure, I found an old Parker Bros vise that is considerably better designed, but without the chrome and green hammered painted finish. If it's not a name brand I doubt I'll be buying from Woodcraft again. Sorry.
