Just what I was looking for !!!
This is my first lathe chuck and yes I know there are other more expensive chucks out there but this chuck fits my needs perfectly !! Kind of heavy for as small as it is but this thing works GREAT !! I make a lot of pens so I also purchased the pen jaws and wow what a difference in the drilling of the blanks ! This chuck will also hold larger pieces which is nice ! I will buy some of the other accessories later on, I have what I need for now. I really like the price of this chuck as compared to the others! I can't believe I waited that long to get one of these ! If you are looking into getting a chuck for your lathe you really need to check this one out !! Yes, it does tighten with the little tommy bars but I don't mind this at all !!!

Woodriver 4 Jaw Chuck
I have used this chuck for over a year and it has worked flawlessly to hold 12" bowls to 1" acorn birdhouses. My only wish is that it had more options for accessories as in pen blank jaws would be great!!
-
Great for Beginning Turners
This is an economical chuck for turning. I use it with my Rikon all the time and it has worked flawlessly.
-
Great unit
Used for bowls
-
Economical chuck for the novice turner.
Great chuck for a novice turner. Can't find fault with the chuck, used primarily for turning knobs for my Stanley handplane collection!
-
Value with a discount price
Took a few trys to get the tennon right but works well after you get the hang of it.
-
Works just fine.
Works as well as chucks that are 2 - 3 times as much. I have recommended this chuck to others and they are just as satisfied as I am.

WoodRiver 4 Jaw Lathe Chuck w/Case
Easily adjusts and holds wood firmly
-
Not what I expected
I have a lathe thats got a 6inch radial swing and this is like a toy for my lathe.
-
Very good all around chuck
Best value. Relatively inexpensive with quality and wide range of grip. A little bit of learning curve to hold your piece in place with one hand and tighten the jaws.
-
Excellent Chuck!
I got started in wood turning several months ago and only had a face plate. After lots of research I purchased this chuck and couldn't be happier. It holds my pieces well, and the cost is good. I use it for finials, spindles, small bowls, etc. The only tricky part is making a good size hole for the screw. 1/4 is a little small, 3/8 to big. Somewhere in the middle.

Great Chuck for the money
Bought this chuck several months ago and it has performed great. The chuck isn't hard to operate and I have turned out some nice bowls using it. Would like to see woodriver make more accessories for it.

Simply Outstanding!!
I am a rank novice when it comes to wood turning. Up until this purchase I had to do all bowl turning between centers which left me quite a bit of "off lathe" hand work. I really bulked at purchasing a chuck because of the price of most on the market. I found this chuck to not only be reasonably priced, but an easy to use, well made piece of equipment. I find that works great for many other projects i. e. turning tops, pepper mills etc.

Excellent product, fantastic price!
After much long, exhaustive comparison research I decided to give this Woodriver product a try, primarily because of the huge price difference. I was amazed at the quality considering how inexpensive it was. After a couple of months of use I couldn't be more pleased with it. No complaints whatsoever!

love this chuck
I am a do it your self person and I started on bowls and boxes I have turned everything from a small shot glass size box to a 14 inch diameter bowl to spindles and this chuck works great it has never failed me yet

Great Chuck
I've been turning for about a month. It's a great improvement in convenience over the face plate that came with the lathe. Also received the flat jaw chuck. I'm thinking about purchasing another chuck so I don't have to change them out.
-
Strong and versatile on the cheap
This chuck is a really good deal all things considered. While it is a 2 handed arraingment to get it tightened up it does take a nice strong grip on the project. Unlike most of the write ups I've seen it does indeed use an insert so it can be moved to another lathe if needed with just the purchase of an adapter, exactly like the more expensive options. A little less convenient? True. But for the money a pretty darn nice option.

I would buy this product again.
I have enjoyed using this self centering chuck for turning pepper mills from 5" to 14". It really holds onto not only the round stock that I use but also square stock and octagonal stock as well. It is easy to remove and reinstall. No vibration what so ever.

THIS IS THE PERFECT ADDITION TO ALL LATHE OWNERS. IT IS PRECISE AND WELL CONSTRUCTED.

A CHRISTmas Gift

Works well
Use for hobby working. Enjoy ease of use

Self-Center 4-Jaw Chuck is fantastic
I really like this chuck. Holds tight as long as you make a groove with the table saw to fit the workpiece tightly inside the jaws. I did find that there was some missing information in the flyer and that is the size of drill bit to use with the screw chuck. Can anyone enlighten me? This is much needed information for anyone turning bottle stoppers, ornaments, and shaving brushes.

The best is yet to come!
Although the chuck works well it's shortcoming is that it only opens so wide. Another chuck might offer that extra 1/2 inch that would make my life much easier, since I would not have to 'turn down' many of my projects!
-
Excellent choice for the money!
I ordered this chuck for a 14" bowl turning that I was working on. It held my work securely and worked perfectly.
-
Good chuck, no instructions?
The chuck works great for the price. It's my first chuck of this kind as I transition from making pens to bowls. Turned two bowls over the weekend and no problems. Only gripe is there were no instructions in the box. There are a few things I still haven't figured out yet and need help.

I would buy this product again
I bought this so that I could be turning more than one bowl at a time, I can keep one chucked up while I start a new bowl.
-
great product workes on bowls wonderfull
i use this chuck to make any size bowls. easy to use. easy to set up.
-
No need to spend more
I have two name brand chucks that were twice the price of this one, but this one is the one of choice by me and my students.

4 jaw chuck
this is a great system i have nothing bad to say. i wiuld recommend it to others

Works great
This wood River chuck works great. I have not had any problems with the chuck. Works great on small laths. Great price, great quality, great job woodcraft.
-
Works great. No 3rd hand required
This chuck works great. I have not had any problems with it. The additonal jaws are easy to get at Woodcraft. To adapt it to a different lathe costs less than $10.00. I have not had the 3rd hand problem. I put the work face down on my work bench. Put the chuck on and then spin all of it onto the lathe spindle.

Quality chuck at economic price
This is a great chuck at a great price. It is very well built and runs very true. Only issue is sometimes a third hand would be helpful in tightening the workpiece in the chuck...one hand for each tightening rod (2) and one hand to hold the workpiece. Overall a great product.
-
Great inexpensive chuck
You get everything promised and more from this chuck. After doing lots of research and not wanting to spend $300+ I purchased the Wood River chuck and couldn't be more pleased. Works flawlessly, holds tight and is very versitile. A great buy from Woodcraft

Great Tool To have
With So Many choices on the Market This Chuck is one of the best Options. Current Economical situation make us a better consumers Looking For Quality And price. There are many good things about this chuck 1) Well Balance 2) Strong Plastic Case 3) has all component and Jaws ready to be use. The other available Jaws for this Chuck are available at Woodcraft and they are good quality tools and add ones to this tool. Take under consideration that you will need a special adapter for your particular lathe and the benefit of this systems is that the case has already the opening for this insert. My only observation is that this Chuck requires 2 bars (included) to tight or to loos the work piece to the jaws, this is a 3 hand action 2 for the bars 1 for holding the piece Overall, I bought this Chuck on a bussines trip, and all the components that I have are from different Woodcraft Stores all over the US; An this Chuck is at my Garage in Canada
