Two drawers are below the writing board, plus two more drawers and a rack of pigeon holes behind the 1/4 circle tambour in this Small Roll Top Desk Plan. There is a lot of storage in a small space. This is a really nice project for a hallway, an office or even the kitchen where space is limited. Wood turning enthusiasts will enjoy making the legs on a lathe, but square and/or tapered is an option and is something easily done. This is an ideal desk when a fine piece of furniture is required in a smaller space. The overall size of this precursor to a full size roll top: 22-1/2" deep, by 37-1/2" wide, by 40" high. It's an intermediate to advanced level project. Many woodworkers see the roll top desk as a crowning achievement. Before making a "regular" size roll top, think about tackling this slightly more manageable one. (Notice the blue ribbon!) All joinery is shown in actual size. Curved workpieces are all in full size and you can measure and trace straight from the drawing. A bill of materials doubles as an exact cutting list, there is a detailed exploded diagram and all hardware requirements are provided. The exploded diagram is so detailed that project specific assembly instructions are not provided.
