Woodworking Project Paper Plan to Build Secretary Desk
Details
Add character to your home office, study, or living room with this Chippendale-style Secretary Desk. You'll receive two separate plans, a lower drop front desk and the upper bookcase hutch, which can be built and used separately or together.
The broken pediment on the top of the hutch adds a classic touch to any desk. It has three shelves behind the glass doors. For a classic look choose walnut or mahogany. While it is meant to go with the drop front desk plan (also included), it can be used with an existing desk.
The lower portion, when combined with the bookcase hutch just described, creates a most elegant Chippendale secretary desk. The drop front, supported by two slides, provides a useable writing surface over the graduated drawers below. There are five small drawers within the desk's drop front where there is traditional pigeon-hole storage. It also features two small vertical column drawers. It's truly a piece of fine craftsmanship.
Joinery is shown in actual size while curved workpieces are all in full size. You can measure and trace straight from the drawing. Includes A bill of materials which doubles as an exact cutting list, a detailed exploded diagram, and all hardware requirements. The exploded diagram is so detailed that project specific assembly instructions are not provided. A special booklet entitled Guide to Building Wood Furniture is also included and provides many tips explaining the "component theory" of woodworking.
