Surinam Ironwood (Swartzia spp.) is a delicious chocolate brown wood with excellent figure and wild darker stripes. Although called Ironwood, it is not any harder than your typical exotic. It turns and finishes well. Sharp tools are recommended when working with Ironwood. Common uses include small decorative items, tool handles, bottle stoppers, salt & pepper mills, knife scale, and pen blanks.
