Purpleheart (Peltogyne spp.) is a strong and durable medium to hardwood with a fine to coarse texture and mostly straight grain. Its vibrant purple color fades to a deep purplish brown over time. The wood machines cleanly when sharp tools are used. Works to a medium to high luster. Slab measures 1-1/4" x 15-1/4" x 37-1/2" and has been surfaced on both sides.
