Argentinian Osage Orange (Maclura tinctoria) offers a distinctive combination of rich golden-orange color and dramatic grain contrast. The heartwood contains striking bands of lighter and darker grain, while the golden-orange hue of this South American variety tends to remain over time. The wood is heavy, dense and stable with a fine to medium texture. While the hardness can make it challenging to work, it is surprisingly easy on cutting tools and turns well. It finishes beautifully and polishes to a deep, natural luster. Common uses include furniture, woodturning and fine specialty items. Slab measures 1-1/4" x 15" x 48-1/4" and is surfaced on both sides.
