With its rich golden-orange hue and striking grain, Argentinian Osage Orange (Maclura tinctoria) brings dramatic natural color and contrast to woodworking projects. This South American variety tends to retain its color over time, while bands of lighter and darker grain highlight the heartwood. The wood is heavy, dense and stable with a fine to medium texture. Its hardness can make it challenging to work, but it is surprisingly easy on cutting tools. Osage Orange turns well, finishes beautifully and polishes to a deep, natural luster. Common uses include furniture, woodturning and fine specialty items. Slab measures 1-1/4" x 13-1/4" x 47-3/4" and is surfaced on both sides.
