Argentinian Osage Orange (Maclura tinctoria) is known for its rich golden-orange color, which this South American variety tends to retain over time. Striking bands of lighter and darker grain run through the heartwood, creating dramatic contrast. Heavy, dense and stable, this wood has a fine to medium texture. Although its hardness can make it challenging to work, it is surprisingly easy on cutting tools, turns well and finishes beautifully. It also polishes to a deep, natural luster. Common uses include furniture, woodturning and fine specialty items. This slab measures 1-1/4" x 13-1/2" x 47-3/4" and is surfaced on both sides.
