Featuring a rich golden-orange hue, Argentinian Osage Orange (Maclura tinctoria) offers beautiful color that this South American variety tends to retain over time. The heartwood is marked by striking lighter and darker grain bands that create dramatic contrast. Heavy, dense and stable, the wood has a fine to medium texture. Its hardness can make working with it challenging, but it is surprisingly easy on cutting tools. Osage Orange turns well, finishes beautifully and can be polished to a deep, natural luster. It is commonly used for furniture, woodturning and fine specialty items. This slab measures 1-1/4" x 12-1/2" x 42" and has been surfaced on both sides.
