The heartwood shifts from light to dark brown with near-black streaks, while the sapwood carries a soft reddish-white hue. Straight grain dominates, though gentle interlocking patterns sometimes appear. The wood works easily, revealing a consistent texture and a calm, low sheen. It grows across Southeast Asia, most notably in India.
