The bridge is one of the most important "braces" on the entire guitar, so it's important to make sure the quality of your bridge stock is absolutely top notch! Ebony has been a traditional material for steel string guitars. Sized to eliminate waste, our ebony bridge blanks has been kiln dried and is stable and ready for use once it's been acclimated to your shop's environment. Though somewhat difficult to machine, quality ebony is worth the reward.

Gaboon Ebony (Diospyros spp.) heartwood is usually jet black with little or no variation or visible grain. Occasionally dark brown or grayish-brown streaks may be present. Ebony has a fine texture with mostly straight grain. This wood can be difficult to work due to its extremely high density, but worth the reward. It has a dulling effect on cutters. Tear-out may occur on pieces that have interlocked or irregular grain. Common uses include small ornamental projects, such as piano keys, musical instrument parts, pool cues, carvings.

  • Great for knobs, pulls, inlays and accents in cabinetry
  • Straight grain, high density and durable
  • Excellent turning wood, finishes to a high luster
  • Native to Africa
