Mallee trees are scrubland vegetation that are common in many parts of Australia in dozens of varieties. The trees are prolific producers of burl growths that can be harvested without cutting down the tree, which is why you normally see Australian burls in cap form. Burl Slices are flat and have the exposed jagged edge all the way around and are typically oval or oddly shaped.
