Veritas Cornering Tools are edge rounding tools that cut a fixed radius curve on an edge—rounding it off. The kit is comprised of two tools with a cutter on either end—one tool cuts 1/16" and 1/8" radius and the other cuts 3/16" and 1/4" radius. The tools or cutters are ground with limiting fences that prevent them from cutting past the desired radius and gouging into the edge of the board. Both tools are made from tool steel hardened to Rc48-52 for excellent edge life and cut on either the pull or push stroke. They come accurately ground but require honing before use.

Features:
  • Round the edges of wood
  • Cut four radiuses - 1/16", 1/8", 3/16" and 1/4"
  • Includes sharpening guide

    Not Good

Black paint is pain to get off & mars wood. Make from stainless if rust is a problem.

why can't these things be ready to use out of the

These did not work out of the box. They have a black coating over the cutting edge that has to be removed. So I figured might just as well sharpen them at the same time. They provide a sharping jig to accomplish that job and it worked well. I suggest when using this tool, work from the smaller radius to the desired one. when I tried using size I wanted, I would get tear outs. But if I started small and worked up the round overs were perfect every time.

    simple corners knocked down

I bought these to knock down corners quickly and effectively. They were quick and effective, but didn't allow me to take very much off the corner. I don't know if that was by design or not. It does take off only as much as needed and nothing more. When you look at the corner, it does looks like it's been rounded off and thats good. Maybe it's limiting me to stop me from screwing up a corner by taking too much off? Could be true. Overall, I think they are very handy. I think these would be good for when the kids want to help because the edges are easily protected from any fingers when you are actually using it.
