Good Value
I like the 1/4" hardened rod on top - no more tool nicks to file off. The rest is well constructed. I don't have any issues with the plastic "filler" below the top - it can be removed if bothersome. My only complaint is the welding process left some small holes in the top rail that I will need to fill in. Also, the rest is 2" tall, top to bottom, and the threads on the rods are 5/8" - I had to call Woodcraft to get this info.

WOODCRAFT Lathe Tool Rest System
Having used a cast iron lathe tool rest for 30 years and having tried a round stainless steel tool rest and found it not precise enough I finally broke down and bought a 4", a 6" and eventually a 12" rest along with a 7/8" x 3.5" and then a 1" x 5" post from the WOODCRAFT Lathe Tool Rest System. These are the real thing and I can't imagine ever using anything else. They are worth the price.

Excellent tool, But...
The post will not lock into the Delta midi because it has a narrower diameter. As a result I can't use it.

Uncomfortable
The poor design makes it a little Uncomfortable t use. There isn't enough room to get your finger under your tool to move it down the tool rest.
