About This Product

The Black Arkansas Stone is the finest natural sharpening stone in the Arkansas family, delivering a smooth, ultra-polished edge that borders on mirror-like. Used after coarser stones have done their work, it refines and finishes with a delicacy that leaves blades not just sharp, but surgically precise.

Favored by carvers, woodworkers and professional sharpeners, the Black Arkansas Stone excels when only the cleanest, most controlled edge will do. Its dense structure and fine honing surface make it ideal for polishing cutting edges to a near-microscopic level of sharpness.

This long-wearing stone can be used with either oil or water and, with proper care, will endure for decades of sharpening. Mined exclusively in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas and cut from select Novaculite, the Black Arkansas Stone stands at the peak of natural sharpening tradition, sharp in purpose, elegant in performance.

Features:

  • Extra fine grit equivalent, approximately 1200 to 1500, graded by density rather than grit size
  • Designed for final edge polishing, produces a smooth, mirror-like finish
  • Compatible with oil or water, traditional honing oil or water for easier cleanup
  • Ideal for knives, chisels, carving tools and any edge requiring exceptional precision
  • Long wearing and durable, suited for long-term use with minimal maintenance
  • Provides excellent tactile feedback and control during finishing strokes
  • 100% natural Novaculite stone, mined in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas
