Not a great vise!
I was really disappointed in this vise. I returned the first one after the company (Proxxon) told me there must be something wrong with it. The second one is only slightly better. It only suctions to a table for a short period and starts wiggling loose. I have tried many different surfaces and it doesn't seem to matter. It does have the ability to move in many different directions and angles; however, it is difficult to keep it tightened and my hands are relatively strong from years of carving. It just keeps loosening up. I have two Veritas vises which are much better and more professional from a carving stand point. I guess it depends what you want to do with this. It won't take much force before you have wiggled it loose.
Convenient for indoor carving room
I have an indoor carving room with a glass table. So I could not bore holes into it. This worked out great. The suction really works to keep it in place. The rotating vise lets me angle my work to best advantage and comfort
